Pulled Pork Sliders

Pulled Pork Sliders
Pulled Pork Sliders boast succulent, slow-cooked pork shoulder, tenderized and infused with smoky barbecue flavors. Seasoned with a harmonious blend of paprika, garlic, and brown sugar, the pork is meticulously shredded for optimal tenderness. Ideal for gatherings or casual dinners, these sliders offer a tantalizing fusion of sweet and savory notes.

Note: The amount of pulled pork yielded from a 3-4 pound pork shoulder can typically serve approximately 8-10 people, depending on the portion size and appetite of your guests.

With slider buns, you can typically estimate that each person will eat 2-3 sliders, especially if they are served as part of a larger meal or with other side dishes. So, with 8-10 servings of pulled pork, you can expect to make around 16-30 sliders. Adjust the recipe quantities accordingly to guest size.

Approx times: Prep: 15 min - Cook: 8-10 hours (slow cooker); 6-8 hours (oven)
Ingredients
Serves 8-10~
  • 3-4 lb boneless pork shoulder
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1/2 cup chicken or vegetable broth
  • Slider buns (mini hamburger buns)
  • Coleslaw or pickles, for serving
Directions
  • Trim excess fat from the pork shoulder, leaving a thin layer for flavor and moisture.
  • In a small bowl, mix together paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, brown sugar, cumin, salt, and black pepper to create a dry rub.
  • Rub the dry rub mixture all over the pork shoulder, ensuring it's evenly coated.
  • Let the pork shoulder sit with the dry rub for at least 30 min to allow the flavors to permeate.
  • Slow Cooker: Place the seasoned pork shoulder in the slow cooker. Pour the barbecue sauce and chicken or vegetable broth over the pork. Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours or until the pork is tender and falls apart easily.
  • Oven: Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C). Place the seasoned pork shoulder in a roasting pan or Dutch oven. Pour the barbecue sauce and chicken or vegetable broth over the pork. Cover tightly with foil or a lid and roast for 6-8 hours or until the pork is fork-tender.
  • Once the pork is cooked and tender, use two forks to shred the meat directly in the slow cooker or roasting pan. Mix the shredded pork with the cooking juices and sauce to enhance flavor and moisture.
  • Slice the slider buns in half horizontally and lightly toast them if desired.
  • Spoon a generous portion of the pulled pork onto the bottom half of each slider bun.
  • Top the pulled pork with coleslaw or pickles for added crunch and flavor.
  • Place the top half of the slider bun on top of the coleslaw or pickles.
