Ingredients
Serves 4
  • 1 lb boneless, skinless breasts, thin strip slices
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup mirin
  • 2 tbsp sake or white wine
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp grated ginger
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish
  • Cooked rice and steamed vegetables, for serving
Directions
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together soy sauce, mirin, sake or white wine, honey, brown sugar, ginger, and garlic. Set aside.
  • Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken and cook for 5-6 minutes or until browned on all sides and cooked through.
  • Pour the teriyaki sauce over the chicken and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer for 5-7 minutes or until the sauce has thickened and the chicken is well coated.
  • Remove the skillet from the heat and stir in sliced green onions.
  • Garnish with sesame seeds and serve hot over cooked rice and steamed vegetables.
  • Note: If you prefer a thicker sauce, you can mix 1 tablespoon of cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of water and add it to the skillet before simmering the sauce.
